So you thought you had your drainage under control. You invested time and money into it but the recent deluge *STILL* flooded your yard.
Don’t worry, enough water can over power most any drainage system, certainly in a residential setting. The key is, does it catch up?
Standing water, sometimes called left over flood water, is where you really are going to see damage to your foundation, siding, fencing, and yard. If you have no drainage system, chances are it would take the left over flood water days or weeks to finally drain away. It is this time that is the most damaging and rot causing.

Two rules of thumb that you’re okay:

  • Your drainage system being overrun is the exception and not the rule.
  • Your left over flood water from an exceptional rain event drains off quickly within a couple of hours max.

If you can’t answer yes to both of these it’s time to take a look.
